NTA-free: NTA is a chemical compound that has been used in various applications, including cleaning products. However, it has also raised environmental concerns, particularly regarding its potential to cause harmful algal blooms and oxygen depletion in aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, products labeled as "NTA-free" are more environmentally friendly.
EDTA-free: Refers to the absence of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in a solution, typically a protease inhibitor cocktail. EDTA is an agent that binds to metal ions and, while it's useful in many applications, it can interfere with certain biological processes that rely on metal ions, such as those involving metal-dependent proteins. As with NTA-free, products that are EDTA-free are more environmentally friendly.
